    The Valencia International Music Band Contest is one of the few musical events to have reached its third century. The contest has been faithfully and intensely followed in the city of Valencia since the late 1900’s – this popular support being one of the key reasons for it’s continued and growing success.

    Music and musical bands are a greatly respected tradition in Valencian culture. The entire city closely follows the fortunes of each band during the competition. Nothing better shows the ability of music to cross frontiers and merge the heritage of differing cultures into one enriching message.

    On behalf of Valencian department of education and culture, I am delighted to welcome all the participating bands – especially those bands visiting from abroad. I am sure you will appreciate the traditional hospitality we offer our visitors and together we can celebrate the universality of music.
