Juan Gonzalo Gómez Deval

Juan-Gonzalo Gómez Deval was born in Benisanó (Valencia)
in 1955 and began his studies at an early age with the 'La Familiar' band
of Benisanó and 'Unión Musical' of Llíria.
He studied at Valencia conservatory and qualified as a clarinet teacher
before widening his studies with courses in harmony, counterpoint, fuega,
composition, and orchestral directing.
He directed the 'La Familiar' band of Benisanó, the 'Sociedad Eslava'
of Albuixec, and during 22 years, the 'Unión Musical' of Polinya
del Xúquer. Since 1995, he has directed the 'Santa Cecilia' band
of Puçol (Valencia). He has won numerous prizes over the years.
In 1998, he won first prize in the pasodoble competition organized by
the Valencia Junta Central Fallera and sponsored by the Valencia city
council.
As an invited director premiering his own pieces he has directed: the
Banda Sinfónica de O'Rosal (Pontevedra), the Banda del Centro Musical
de Felanitx (Palma de Mallorca), and the 'San Rafael' conservatory Orquesta
Sinfónica in Buñol.
He belongs to the Spanish society of authors and the association of Valencian
symphonic composers. His works have been played by numerous professional
bands, including the municipal bands of Albacete, Palma de Mallorca, and
Valencia.
His compositions have included:
Symphonic poems: 'Apuntes Sinfónicos', 'Jaume I el Conqueridor'.
Symphonic music for bands: 'Muralles', 'Barrabás'.
Musicals: 'Eiffel en Concert', 'Fantàstic Hotel'.
Pasodobles: Barbara Beltrán, Sara Gómez Beltrán,
Sandra Climent Jordá, El Jubilat, Els Maçers, La cuadrilla,
Mar i Pau, 7 de Setembre, and Vicent el peix.
In addition, he has written many festive and processional marches, hymns,
polcas, cha-cha-cha, and songs for children.
