Francisco Grau Vegara

He was born in Bigastro in Alicante and began his musical training in the band of his hometown. He finished his instrumental studies at 14. He later studied composition, orchestral directing, choir directing, and teaching music.

During his career as a composer, he has won 13 national and international awards. He has also guest directed some of the most important orchestras in Spain. As director of the the band of the Spanish royal household, he has led performances throughout Spain and Europe. He was awarded the Liderman trophy in 1993.

He is the author of the official version of the Spanish national hymn.

He is a member of many institutions and academies, including, the San Fernando royal academy of fine arts, and the San Carlos de Valencia.

He has written numerous pieces for choirs, and since 1989, he has presided over the jury of the Torrevieja international contest.
