Band profile

The band was created in October 1979 - thanks to the efforts of Hilario Gascó and Josep Sanchis. It gave its first concert in the same year under the baton of José Baixauli. Eleuterio Ruiz was later named director. In June 1988, the governing council was renewed and Manuel Sanchis Viadel was named president and Eduardo Tarín director. The band then began to grow in numbers and quality. After attending the Oeiras competition in Portugal, the band has gone on to attend numerous festivals and competitions throughout Spain. The band currently has 80 musicians, 63 students, and more than 500 association members.

Prizes:
1991 - first prize in the Valencia regional competition.
1991 - second prize in the regional competition.
1994 and 1995 - second prize in the Certamen Cullera competition.
1994 and 1996 - second prize in the Valencia International Music Band Contest
2001 - third prize in the regional competition.

Director profile

Eduardo Tarín Ruiz was born in 1952 in Catarroja, Valencia. He began his training in the school of the Sociedad la Artesana de Catarroja under Filiberto Rodrigo and Antonio Claverol.
He continued his studies in the Conservatorio Superior de Música in Valencia - specialising in trumpet with Ramón Corell and harmony with José María Cervera - and graduated with the maximum marks. In 1973, he gained a place as trombone player with the Spanish ministry of defence.
He has taught musical theory and metal wind instruments at Valencian schools in Sedavi, Catarroja, and Benetusser. As a solo trumpet player he has given concerts in Benidorm, Castellón, Xativa, Albacete and Valencia. He has written many pasodobles and pieces for metal instruments. He currently also directs the Benetússer youth band.
