BANDA JUVENIL DEL CENTRE ARTÍSTIC MUSICAL DE MONCADA

This group was created in 1990 with the aim of expanding the training of the school's students and to train the future musicians of the band, since then it has been growing in number and quality offering concerts throughout Spain.

In recent years, the Banda Juvenil del Centre Artístic Musical de Moncada stands out for its great activity, performing numerous concerts, including educational concerts, festivals, contests and exchanges.

In 2015, the Banda Juvenil del Centre Artístic Musical de Moncada participated in the I Certamen de Banda de Música “Poble de Benimaclet”, winning the Special Audience Award and the Third Prize from the jury.

In 2018 they won the First Prize and the Best Parade Prize at the Certamen de Bandas Juveniles de Castellar-Oliveral, Valencia.

Currently, the Banda Juvenil del Centre Artístic Musical de Moncada has more than 40 musicians and is conducted by Javier Pérez Catalá.


Javier Pérez Catalá

Javier Pérez Catalá, was born in Moncada (Valencia) in 1991. He began his musical education at the Centre Artístic Musical de Moncada and continued his oboe studies at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música “Ciutat de Moncada” at the hands of teachers Domenech Hurtado, Miguel Morellá and Manolo Marqués.

Later he studied at Conservatorio Superior de Música “Joaquín Rodrigo” de Valencia where he obtained the degree specializing in Oboe with Professor Jesús Fuster Palmer.

He expands his training by taking improvement workshops with the teachers: Juan Ferriol, Soloist of the Orquesta del Principado de Asturias; Roberto Turlo, Oboe soloist of the Orquesta de Valencia; Sandro Caldini, Professor of Oboe at the Conservatorio Superior de Udine; Arnaldo de Felice, Professor of Oboe at the Conservatorio C. Moteverdi de Bolzano; Jean Cristhophe Gayot, Soloist of the Orquestre Philarmonia de Radio France; Cristina Gómez Godoy, Soloist of the Berlin State Orchestra, among others.

He has performed with different groups, including concerts performed with the Orquesta Sinfónica del Mediterráneo, Banda Municipal de Valencia, Orquesta Filarmónica Martín y Soler, Camerata Orphenica Lira, and Orquesta Sinfónica del Segle XXI.

In the field of orchestra and band conducting, he has extensive training with José Martínez Colomina, and he has also taken various conducting workshops with Cristóbal Soler.

Additionally, he obtained the University Master's Degree in Secondary Education Teacher in the specialty of Music, from the Universidad Internacional de Valencia. And in 2021 he collaborated with the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia in the book “Music as Intangible Cultural Heritage”, Springer publishing house.

Currently, he is music director of the Banda Juvenil del Centre Artístic Musical de Moncada, and also directs the Dirección de la Escuela de Música y Centro Autorizado de Ensañanzas Elementales Centre d’Estudis Musicals “Mestre Palau” de Moncada, activities that he combines with his teaching work.
