At the end of the seventies, a movement to recover music bands began in the region. A group of former musicians show their solidarity and initiate the necessary steps, constituting the association Unió Musical de Polop de la Marina, in February 1982, with Mr José Zaragoza Company as its president. The music direction is entrusted to Mr. Andrés Teuler Martínez who, with the invaluable collaboration of Mr. Ambrosio Company, Mr. José Martínez, Mr. Julián Ferrer and Mr. José Teuler, began teaching the young people of Polop, making its presentation on August 13, 1983. The Unió Musical has carried out numerous performances, including: participation in the TVE program "Nueva Gente"; the trip to Italy and the audience with his Holiness Juan Pablo II; participation in the IV Festival Ibérico de Bandas in Loures (Portugal), in the V Festival de Música del Alto Aragón (Huesca), the Certamen Internacional "Vila de Alginet 2007” (winning second prize) and the XXXV Certamen de Música Festera de Elda (getting a second prize). In addition, it has participated in several contests organized by the Diputación de Alicante, obtaining a 1st prize in 1999 in the 3rd division, a 3rd in the 2nd division in 2009 and the 1st prize and honorable mention in the 3rd division in 2015.

The Unió Musical is made up of 70 musicians, and its current president is Mr. Antoni Cano Aladid. It has been conducted, since its foundation by: Mr. Andrés Teuler Martínez, Mr. Jaime P. Asensi Seva, Mr. Pedro Salinas Robles, Mr. Ramon Garcia i Soler and, currently, by Mr. José Vicente Algado Climent.

He was born in 1981 and began his musical studies at the Centro Musical Puig Campana in Finestrat with his father and Ismal Bevià, continuing them at the Conservatorio “José Pérez Barceló” in Benidorm and at the Conservatorio “Oscar Esplà” in Alicante, where he finished his studies in horn teacher. he began his conducting studies in 1999, attending different conducting courses with: José R. Pascual, Frank de Vuyst, Cristóbal Soler, Rafael Sanz-Espert, Douglas Bostock. He studies composition with Joan Enric Canet at the Conservatorio Superior de Alicante and with Nórman Milanes. He is a Higher Graduate in Orchestra Conducting from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Murcia, where he studied with César Álvarez and José Miguel Rodilla. He has conducted groups such as: Orquesta Sinfónica de la Catedral de Madrid, Banda del Centro Musical Puig Campana de Finestrat, Banda de Lanjarón (Granada), Banda Municipal de “los Palacios y Villafranca” (Sevilla), Orquesta de la Universidad de València, Banda Nacional de Conciertos de Cuba, Rundfunk-Blasorchester Leipzig (Germany), Orquesta Sinfónica del Conservatorio Superior de Murcia, Banda Municipal de Granada, Banda Municipal de Palma de Mallorca, Banda Municipal de Castelló. He has been principal conductor of the Agrupación Coral de Finestrat (1999-2005), of the Banda “La Lira” de Monforte del Cid (2006-2007), the Banda del Ateneo Musical de Cocentaina (2007-2009), Banda del Centro Musical Puig Campana de Finestrat (2005-2012) and acting music director of the Banda Municipal de Castelló (2018 and 2022). He has been awarded as a conductor with 14 first prizes in different band competitions throughout the Spanish state. Special mention to the best director of the Certamen de Bandas de la Comunidad Valenciana (2018). He is currently the principal conductor of the Unió Musical de Polop de la Marina, of the Banda Sinfónica del Ateneu Musical de la Vila Joiosa and of the Banda del Centre Artístic Cultural “Verge de la Pau” d’Agost.
