Asociación Músico-Cultural “La Lira de Pozuelo”

Although the first band was created in Pozuelo at the end of the s. XIX, it was not until 1990 when the La Asociación Músico-Cultural “La Lira de Pozuelo” was born.

In 2004 La Lira became a Foundation to support the educational and cultural work of the Association, offering a modern element of management.

In order to promote musical education, La Lira trains its young people in its own music school, which is located within the network of Official Centers of the Community of Madrid. It currently has more than 200 students, an initiation band of more than 90 students and a Gospel Choir of fifty voices.

The Symphonic Band maintains an intense activity in the effort to disseminate original band music, having premiered works by such relevant composers as Luis Serrano Alarcón, Gregory Fritze, David Rivas, Azael Tormo or Carlos Martín Jara among many others. Likewise, important invited conductors passed through the band's podium such as Bernardo Adam Ferrero, Luis Cobos, Johan de Meij, Abel Moreno or Pascual Balaguer among others.
