ALBERTO ROQUE

Alberto Roque began began his musical studies at SAMP in Portugal followed by studies in Orchestral Conducting with Jean-Marc Burfin and Jean-Sébastien Béreau. From 2004 to 2021, Mr. Roque has been conductor of the Orquestra de Sopros da Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, chamber winds "Camerata de Sopros Silva Dionísio" and Head of Wind Conducting Studies. He has been recently appointed head of the Pos-Graduate studies in Wind Conducting at ESECS – Instituto Politécnico de Leiria.

He works as guest conductor in Portugal and abroad, working with many national and international soloists.

He was member of the Artistic Planning Committee of WASBE´s Conferences – Chiayi City, Taiwan, and Utrecht (The Netherland). In July 2015, he was the conductor invited to the Conducting Masterclass of WASBE Conference in S. José, California, and since 2016 joined the Sherborne Summer School of Music.

Actually is the artistic director and principal conductor of the Ensemble de Sopros AFCL (wind ensemble of Leiria band association), with which he as recorded wind music of Beethoven, Alfred Reed and Serge Lancen, all available in several digital platforms; and conductor of the Orquestra de Sopros de Ourém (OSO).

He is teaching at SAMP´s School of Arts, conducting the youth orchestra “Klassicus SAMP” and conducts the community orchestra “Ars lusitanae”.

He is a founding member and musical director on the project “concert for Babies” of Musicalmente Company.
