SARA RAMOS CONTIOSO

Sara Ramos Contioso works as composer, professor of composition at the Seville Conservatory of Music and researcher at the University of Granada. She studied composition with Manuel Castillo, Antonio Flores and Ignacio Marín at the Seville Conservatory, and carried out a subsequent research stays at the Humboldt University of Berlin (DAAD grant, 2007) under the supervision of Prf. Dr Danuser; as well as a postgraduate course in composition at the Liceo Conservatory (Barcelona, 2006-2008) with Willem Dagstra (Ligeti's student) as tutor. She belongs to the research group of Musical Heritage of Andalusia (HUM 263), at the UGR, and has participated in numerous congresses and scientific conferences focused on the study of religious music (requiem and repertoire for Holy Week) and chamber music in the 20th century. She has the extraordinary awards for Composition (1998), History of Music (1998) and the European Doctorate (2019) for her thesis on 20th century requiem composition in Spain. In the creative sphere, she has a wide catalogue that includes works in all templates and she has premiered in auditoriums such as the Mompou and the Eduard Toldrá in Barcelona, the Edgar Neville in Malaga, or the Jimenez Acosta Foundation and the Caja Rural in Granada. She is a full member of the composer societies ACIM of Malaga and ACC of Catalonia; from the analysis and musicology societies SMA of London and SEDEM of Madrid; as well as the Ateneo de Sevilla and the Association of Women in Music. In the professional field, she participates continuously in selection processes and composition juries. She is also a European Expert for the European Commission.
