Councillor for Orchestra and Bands of Valencia Council and President of the Organizing Committee the International Band Competition “City of Valencia”
Traditionally, July is synonymous with one of the most significant musical events and one which always arouses the enthusiasm of the followers of Musical Bands. Valencia will become an indisputable world reference with the celebration of the City of Valencia International Musical Band Competition 2012, which will undoubtedly revalidate a prestige acquired and matured over 126 years of history.
In Valencia, musical societies represent a great number of values that go beyond the purely musical. It is part of the Valencian character, its way of life and understanding music for which we are recognized worldwide.
The quality, commitment and enthusiasm that the great bands of our Community take so much pride in will surely be a spur for a healthy rivalry among the various national and international ensembles which participate in the event.
The organizing committee of the Competition always works with enthusiasm and determination to combine the inherited tradition and prestige with modernity and the new requirements of our times, designing for this reason new proposal that will enhance this magnificent musical encounter.
As Councillor responsible for the Municipal Band and Valencia Orchestra, I would like to welcome all the musicians who will participate in any section of the event to the Palau de la Musica in Valencia and share with them our warm hospitality which the people of Valencia are so proud of and wish that your artistic efforts will raise the prestige of this superb event which has made Valencia the international capital of bands.
