    The band was founded in 1871 and particated in its first competition 34 years later in Margione – where it won first prize. In 1907 the band won third prize and a silver plate in the Pescia competition. The philamonic band ‘G. Verdi’ currently gives concerts and participates in religious and civil events in its hometown.

    The band has approximately 50, mostly young, players and the governing board is made up of 10 directors.

    It has enjoyed a considerable growth in musical repertoire over recent years. It plays symphonies, contemporary and light music, as well as soundtracks from famous films. As a reward for its widening range, the band won first prize for procession and second prize for interpretation in the sixth Scandicci band contest in 1997. In the first national ‘Il Borro’ competition, the band won first prize for a freely chosen work. The band´s last international competition was the 1997 Asfold International in Germany – where the band won third prize in the big band section.
