    Giacomo Montanelli was born in Pontedera, Pisa, and graduated in trombone at the Cherubini conservatory in Florence. He began playing in 1984 with the Orquesta Regional Toscana, the Orquesta del Mayo Musical in Florentino, the Sinfónica de San Remo, the Teatro ‘Del Giglio’ of Lucca, and the ‘La Fenice’ of Venice. Later, he studied piano and composition.

    During 1986 and 1987 he was first trombonist with the Italian youth orchestra and later first trombonist with the Orquesta Juvenil Internacional.

    He has been a member of the Filarmónica Giuseppe Verdi from the age of nine and was named director in 1996.

    He frequently participates in national and international band competitions.
