    Ramón Lacreu Navarro founded the band as the ‘Música Primitiva de Alfafar’ in 1850 and for many years it played in a hall given by the council.

    In 1921, the band changed its name to the Banda de Música Municipal d'Alfafar. It began to look for its own premises in 1936 and acquired its current centre, together with the local hunting society, three years later. At the same time, the band adopted its current name.

    After the civil war, the newly finished band building doubled as a social centre with a recreation and reading room – as well as rehearsal facilities.

    The band has today achieved a high educational and musical level – thanks to the efforts of hundreds of musicians, and a music school that has been active for nearly fifty years. The band produces many professional players and has supplied five teachers to the Real Conservatorio de Madrid.

    In recent years, the band has participated in twinning plans with foreign bands and currently interchanges players with a band in Graz, Austria.
