Centro Instructivo Musical de Alfafar (Valencia)Rafael Pascual Alfonso was born in Moncada and first learnt to play in the town’s music centre. He later studied in the Joaquín Rodrigo Conservatorio Superior in Valencia and graduated with an advanced degree in saxophone in 1991. Two years later, he began studying psychology in the University of Valencia. In 1985, he obtained an extraordinary elementary prize and studied alongside prestigious international soloists such as: Eloy Gracia, Antonio Daniel, Pedro Iturralde and Daniel Deffayet. He took specialised orchestra, band, and choir directing courses with: Roberto Forés, Luis Sanjaime, Bernardo Adam Ferrerrero, Albert Argudo, Juan José Olives, Pablo Sánchez and Eduardo Cifre. He teaches musical language, musical theory, saxophone, and harmony at the Centre d'Estudis Musicals "Mestre Palau" in Moncada – and since 1997 he has directed the school. In 1992, he became director of the school and band of the Agrupació Musical de Massarrojos. He has also been band director of the Centro Instructivo Musical de Alfafar since 1996. He has participated in many musical education conferences. He continues his education by studying composition, and choir directing, at the Conservatorio Superior de Música in Valencia. He has just finished his doctorate in music at the fine arts faculty of the Polytechnic of Valencia. |
