Frank de Vuyst

Banda Sinfónica Ateneo Musical de Cullera (Valencia)

    

    Frank de Vuyst was born in Belgium in 1968 and received his musical education in Lokeren and the academies of Walloon and the professional conservatory of Ghent.

    He continued his education in neighbouring Holland, in the conservatories of Maastricht and Tilburg, where he received a national award when finishing. He studied directing under Enrique García Asensio and Jan Cober. In Vienna, he studied under Richard Edlinger.

    He teaches saxophone and directing. In recognition of his career and contribution to music, Belgium has presented him a special award for cultural merit.

    He has toured Europe many times as soloist and director, and performed in Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg and Spain.

    In Spain, he has been guest director of the band of Bocairente, and 'El Treball' in Jijona. He has been directing the Banda Sinfónica del Ateneo Musical in Cullera since 1997.

    In 1997, he won first prize with the symphony band in the national Altea competition and the following year he won first prize with an honorable mention in the Valencia International Music Band Contest.
