Darío Sotelo

Conductor of the Symphonic Band and orchestra and band conducting teacher at the Municipal School of Music of São Paulo. He is the current president of WASBE - World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, the first Latin American to occupy that position. Graduated in piano, violin and viola, he received his master degree in orchestral conducting from the City University in London as a pupil of Ezra Rachlin.

He created and established youth orchestras in Tatuí, Belo Horizonte and São Paulo. Through the Conservatoire of Tatuí he commissioned the following Brazilian composers: Mario Ficarelli, Ernest Mahle, Edson Beltrami, Hudson Nogueira and Ricardo Silva, conducting more than 130 world premieres. he has been guest conducting in several countries such as Hungary, Australia, Germany, England, Spain, South Africa, Colombia, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Paraguay, Argentina and Taiwan. He established and coordinated the I, II, IV and V editions of the Ibero-American Conference of Composers, Arrangers and Conductors of Symphonic Band. Established and coordinated the Brazilian National Conducting Seminar from 2013 to 2017.

He also organized the 1st. Composition Week for Band, I and II Editions of the National Band Composition Contest. He wrote 5 children's shows for children at public schools. He was the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Brazilian Wind Orchestra for 24 years, recording 8 cds with Brazilian compositions. He collaborated with the North American series 'Teaching Music Through Performance in Band' volume 10.
