Associació Musical El Verger (Alicante)Eduardo Arnau Moreno was born in Tavernes de la Valldigna, near Valencia, and began his studies in the school of his town band under Juan Vercher Grou. He went on to study clarinet, chamber music, musicology, orchestration, choral and instrumental directing at the Conservatorio Superior de Música in Valencia. In 1967, he formed the ‘Valldigna’ chorus and went on to win prizes in the international competitions of Sagunto, Torrevieja, Alcazar de Sant Joan, and Valencia. Two years later, he became director of the symphony band of the Sociedad Musical de Tavernes de la Valldigna, and won nine first prizes in special and honour sections with pieces he had himself transcripted. From 1987, he became director of Banda de L'Asociación Musical El Verger and won first prize in the second section of the Valencia International Music Band Contest at the first attempt. Prizes were also won in Alicante and Teulada. He founded the string school of the Comunidad Valenciana in 1970 and was founder-director of the classical orchestra of the Sociedad Musical de Tavernes de la Valldigna from 1975 until 2000. He has transcripted many pieces that have been played in competitions, and he has often served as a jury member in band and choral competitions. He was named ‘favourite son’ of the city of Tavernes de la Valldigna in 1981. |
