Francisco Pons Sáez

Sociedad Protectora Musical "La Lira" de Alfarp (Valencia)

    Francisco Pons Saez was born in Alfarp and began studying musical language and guitar in the band school under Manuel Tomás Boix.

    He then studied guitar and clarinet under Luis Sanjaime Meseguer, Lucas Conejero Martí, Juan Vercher Grau at the ‘Joaquín Rodrigo’ Conservatorio Superior de Música in Valencia. He finished his superior studies in clarinet under Juan Vercher Grau.

    He studied harmony with Rafael Talens; piano with Javier Polanco, Salvador Vázquez Chambó and Mercedes Esparza; and directing with Rafael Sanz Espert. He also took advanced studies with Jose Vicente Herrera, Jose Miguel Martinez Falomir, Juan Vercher Grau, and Walter Boeykens.

    He taught musical language and clarinet in the band schools of the following towns: Llombay, Rafelguaraf, Sueca, Alfarp, Alginet, Gavarda, as well as the professional centre at L'Alcúdia.

    He became director of the band and school in 1988 and has won various prizes in national and international competitions.

    Since 1988 he has been teaching music to secondary students – and clarinet in the band schools of Alginet and Alfarp as well as the professional centre in L'Alcúdia.
