Manuel Enguídanos Cotanda

Unió Musical de Torrent (Valencia)

    Manuel Enguídanos Cotanda was born in Lliria, near Valencia, and studied music at the Unión Musical of Lliria under Villarejo, finishing his studies at Valencia conservatory. He has taught clarinet at the Banda Municipal de Castellón, and since 1966 has also taught at the Banda Municipal of Valencia. He teaches musical theory and clarinet at the Unión Musical in Lliria.

    He directed the band of the Sociedad de Pescadores de Valencia for three years and later the band of Pobla de Vallbona - where he stayed for 15 years and remains the honorary director. He then directed the Lira Carcagentina and Conservatorio Municipal de Música Mestre Vert in Carcaixent. With the Lira, he won first prize in special section B and toured France.

    He has also directed the bands of Foios, Benimaclet, and, for five years, the Unión Musical of Lliria. With this band, he obtained three first prizes and an honorable mention in special section A in the Valencia International Music Band Contest. He also toured Switzerland and Italy several times.

    He has studied directing with García Asensio.

    In an extensive career, he has won first prizes in many competitions. He has led the band of Torrente since 1996 and won first prize in the honour section of the Valencia International Music Band Contest in 1997 and 1996.
