Claudia Montero

Claudia Montero has two Latin Grammy Awards: in 2014 her Concierto para Violín y Orquesta de Cuerdas won in the Best Classical Contemporary Composition category and in 2016 her Cuarteto para Buenos Aires won in the same category.

She was born in Buenos Aires but has lived in Valencia since 2002 where she teaches composition at the Castellón "Salvador Seguí" Superior Conservatory of Music.

She began her musical education at the "Alberto Ginastera" Conservatory in Buenos Aires, studying Piano, Musical Education and Composition. She also has a master's degree in Aesthetics and Musical Creativity from the University of Valencia.

She has received commissions from: FloraledaSacchi (harp, Italy), Wolfgang Weigel (guitar, Germany), Mariano Rey (clarinet, Buenos Aires), José Luís Ruiz del Puerto (guitar, Spain), Allison Brewster (piano, USA), Yi Fang Huang (violin, Taiwan/Switzerland), Marcelo Brú (cello, Argentina), Guillermo Anad (viola, Australia) andPieroBonaguri (guitar, Italy).

Her works have been performed by:the Buenos Aires Chamber Orchestra, the Crescendo Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of the Honorable Congress of the Nation, the Jerez Chamber Orchestra, the Pau Casals Orchestra, the SinfoniettaParis, the Neuquén Symphony Orchestra, the SinfonieorchesterKusel (Germany), the Hsinchu University Orchestra, the Taipei University Orchestra (Taiwan), the Turin Philharmonic, the Salta Province Symphony Orchestra, the Tucumán Symphony Orchestra, the Rosario Symphony Orchestra, the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra (Poland), the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the RTÈ Orchestra (Ireland), the City of London Orchestra, the ConcertanteOrchestra (Nis, Serbia), the Grossetto Chamber Orchestra (Italy), and the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra (South Korea).

Invited to numerous music festivals as a composer and speaker, she has attended: the Cagliari International Music Festival (Italy), the "A Orillas del Guadalquivir" International Festival (Spain), the Ayamonte Music Festival (Spain), the Gitarrenland Festival (Germany/France), the Latin American Summit of Women in the Arts (Spain), the Havana International Music Festival (Cuba), the "From the End of the World" Series (Taiwan), and the NIMUS Festival (Serbia).

She has been a jury member for the following contests and competitions: the Bankia Valencia Region Orchestra Contest (2017), the Castellón International Band Contest (2012/13), the INJUVE Awards (Madrid), the JOCME Composition Awards, Isla Verde Bronces (Argentina), and the Alhambra International Guitar Competition for Young People.

Her works have been published by Piles Editorial, Ut Orpheus (Italy), Brotons&MercadalEdiciones, and now are exclusively published by FuroreVerlag (Germany).

She is a member of the IAWM (International Alliance for Women in Music), the Latin Recording Academy, and the National Recording Academy.
