Carlos Pellicer
Carlos Pellicer is a composer and conductor, and although he regularly writes music for different orchestral groups and films, his main focus is composing music for wind band. His works have been performed by important international ensembles and at festivals such as the Lisbon National Conservatory, the Brassband Excelsior Veenwoudsterwalfrom Holland, the Federazionedei Corpi Bandistici di Trento, the interpretation contests of VeldhovenandEnschedein Holland, the CIBM Valencia, and the Musikfest Baden-Württemberg in Germany, among others. His music for wind band has been recorded on numerous CDs by famous ensembles all over the world.Most of these CDs have beenpublished by Molenaar Edition, a Dutch label he has worked with for many years and with which he released his first monographic CD in 2015 entitled 'Flash'. He has received many national and international awards including First Prize and Honorable Mention at the XXIX edition of the prestigious International Contest for Original Band Composition in Corciano, Italy in 2013, and is regularly invited to act as a music consultant on different recordings and a jury member at many international and national contests. In recent years his studies and research in the field of band music have caused him to receive commissions and debut works in more than twenty counties all over the world including Spain, Norway, Holland, the USA, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Brazil, Italy, Taiwan, Poland, Singapore, the UK and Japan. In 2018 he debuted two new commissions in Belgium and the USA, attending the performances personally, as is his custom. He also offers numerous lectures and talks about composition. He is currently working on several projects which will also premier in 2018, including what is without doubt his most important work to date: his first symphony, 'Remembrance', commissioned by the Societat Filharmònica Alteanenseas the obligatory piece for the 45th International Wind Band Contest 'Vila d'Altea' 2018 and which will debut in December. |
