Eva Lopszyc

Eva Irene Lopszyc was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She graduated from the Conservatorio Superior de Música "Manuel de Falla" (CSMMF) in PIANO, COMPOSITION and ORCHESTRA CONDUCTING.

She began studying music with her mother, the pianist Tatiana Vaistij de Lopszyc, and was subsequently taught by Elsa Piaggio de Tarelli, Charles Dobler and Ángel Lasala, and formed a piano duo with her sister, Diana.

She was taught composition by her great uncle, JacoboFicher, and also by Alicia Terzián, Roberto García Morillo and Augusto Rattenbach.

Her orchestra conducting teachers were Alfonso Stagno, Miguel Ángel Gilardi, Adela Marshall, Mario Benzecry and Pedro Ignacio Calderón.

Her compositions are for various types of ensemble, including soloists, chamber music, choir, orchestra, symphonic-choral groups, opera and wind band, and have been premiered by famous performers both in Argentina and internationally, in Uruguay, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy, Vatican City, Germany, Ukraine, Poland, Israel, the UK and Belgium.

She has represented Argentina at contemporary music festivals and wind band summits in Spain and Portugal, where she has premiered her works "Almirante Cristóbal Colón", "Brigantia de losVientos", "Ventos de Amor…Terras de Fogo e Mar-Lembrança a Luis de Camoes".

She has conducted the CSMMF Orchestra, Ópera Contemporánea, and Ensamble de los Tres Tiempos. She conducted the Banda Sinfónica de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, the Banda Sinfónica de La Pampa, the Orquesta Sinfónica Universidad de Tucumán, the Federación de Bandas de Tenerife, the Orquestas Sinfónica de Paraguay, and ensembles from Brazil and Mexico.

She has won various prizes and awards, including: ISCM WMDAYS, Poland; TRINAC- Fundación Encuentros; Selección GAUDE MATER Czsestochowa-Polonia; Contemporánea Belo Horizonte; Encuentros Latinoamericanos, Mexico; Premio "Alfonso Stagno"; and the Medalla de Oro Composición y Dirección CSMMF.

She was a jury member for the Young Composers Award ISCM, Poland; TRINAC;and the conducting positions adjudication panel of the Buenos Aires Ministry of Culture.

She was the President of the Argentinian Women Composers Forum from 2009 to 2013. She is a MMP Peace Ambassador, a member of WASBE, the Adkins Chiti - Women in Music Foundation and the Brontë Society.

Her works have been published by Sillabe and De Santis Publications. She has also recorded several CDs.

She teaches at the CSMMF and is a Teaching Supervisor for the Buenos Aires Ministry of Culture.
