FRANCISCO ZACARÉS FORT

Francisco Zacarés Fort studied music at the Joaquín Rodrigo Superior Conservatory of Music in Valencia.

He holds higher qualifications in Harmony, Counterpoint, Composition and Instrumentation, Sol-fa and Music Theory, Transposition and Accompaniment, Direction of Orchestra and Choirs, Music Teaching and Musicology.

Different trends, from those purely tonal to atonal, can be seen in the more than the hundred works he has composed for a wide range of ensembles and soloists. His most-used compositional language is modal, personalizing the modes and form to be used.At the same time he also includes other languages, thereby creating amalgams with their own meaning.

His compositions have been obligatory pieces at various performance contests, including: the International Wind Band Contest "City of Valencia", the WMC Kerkrade (Holland), the CMF (France), the Valencia Provincial Wind Band Contest, Flautissim (Valencia), and ATE (Valencia, Zaragoza).

He has received prizes in various composition competitions, including: the World Music Contest, Kerkrade (Holland), the International Trumpet Guild (USA), Tokyo Kosei (Japan), Frederic Fennell (Japan), Corciano (Italy), Romual do Marenco, Novi Ligure (Italy), Harelbeke (Belgium), Confédération Musicale de France (France), Rodriguez Albert-Diputación de Alicante, Ciutat d'Algemesí (Valencia), and Vila de Muro (Alicante).

He entered the Valencia Music and Scenic Arts Teaching Corps through public examinations. He currently teaches Harmony, Analysis and Principles of Composition at the Torrent Conservatory (Valencia).

He has been a jury member at numerous contests, including:the Valencia Provincial Wind Band Contest, the Valencia Regional Wind Band Contest, theCorciano International Competition for Original Band Composition (Italy), the FVSM Composition Contest for Wind Band and Choir, the Castellón Provincial Wind Band Contest and the Alicante Provincial Wind Band Contest.
