ALFONSO RUS TEROL

The depth and breadth of the wind band tradition in our province is such that there are very few towns which do not have a municipal band. Since time immemorial, Valencians have had a close bond with music, using it to communicate our feelings and emotions.

Musicians from countries such as Germany, Belgium, Holland and Portugal will come to our province to take part in the 128th edition of the International Wind Band Contest "City of Valencia". The Contest's prestige and long history make it an unmissable event for these ensembles, as well as an international reference point.

During the three centuries the Contest has witnessed, the event has continued to evolve and adapt, but it has never lost its vocation: to be a stage and springboard for Valencian musicians and composers.

The Valencian Provincial Council, as part of its unconditional support for and promotion of local culture, is proud to collaborate in the organization of this Contest, which promotes wind bands, an important cultural legacy and part of our history.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all the participants, their relatives and friends who have come to our province for the CIBM, and to invite them to make the most of their stay and enjoy the beauty of the landscapes of the interior, our unending beaches and excellent cuisine.

All that remains is to congratulate the musicians, conductors and presidents of the associations for their efforts and to wish them every success in this competition with one of the hallmarks of identity of the Valencian people: our wind bands.
