CRISTÓBAL GRAU MUÑOZ

For another year, wind band music comes together in the renowned international contest "City of Valencia", whose prestige is capable of attracting music societies from all over the world.

As Councilor for Theaters and Music for the Valencia Provincial Government, an organization 100% committed to wind bands, it is a pleasure to collaborate in this centennial summit, which reaches its 128th edition this year.

As an excellent host should, over the next few days Valencia will revel in its role as a capital of music; this is a noble task in which the Valencia Provincial Government must and wants to be involved.

Our commitment to music associations is unwavering and unquestionable, demonstrated by financial grants given through the "Retrobem la Nostra Música" program, the issuing of musical instruments, and programs to refurbish and improve their headquarters and facilities.

The wind bands from our neighborhoods and towns champion the unmistakable hallmarks of Valencian identity. Established as genuine cultural centers and focal points, music associations nourish vocations from an early age in their music schools which make our region one of the richest sources of future musicians.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartiest congratulations to the participants in this great musical event where, I'm sure, our Valencian representatives will once again demonstrate why Valencia is synonymous with art, culture and music.
