Asociación Unión Musical Villa de Bullas HISTORY OF THE BAND The Bullas municipal band dates back to 1888, although it disappeared in 1979. Today's Unión Musical "Villa de Bullas" was established in February 1998 and gained the name "Banda de la Asociación de la Escuela Municipal de Música de Bullas"; this band was created to receive students from the Bullas Municipal Music School. The Band's first performance was on 9 June 1998, under the baton of José Antonio Caballero Amor. Víctor Manuel Rodrigo García has been the Band's conductor since February 2006. In this time the Band has taken part in numerous wind band festivals all over Spain and in concert series in the Murcia auditorium. In 2009, the Band took part in Division Three of the 19th National Band Contest "City of Murcia", winning Third Prize. In February 2011, the Band recorded their second CD of "Marchas pasionarias" upon the request and with the patronage of the Royal, Illustrious, Venerable and Ancient Confraternity of the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ of Murcia. Today the Band has 50 musicians who trained in the Bullas Municipal Music School and who are continuing their studies in different conservatories in the Murcia Region, Alicante and Valencia. BIOGRAPHY OF THE CONDUCTOR Víctor M. Rodrigo GarcíaVíctor M. Rodrigo García was born in Cheste (Valencia) on 2 January 1970.He began studying music in the Academy of "La Lira" Band in Cheste, taught by his father, Vicente Rodrigo Cortés. He went on to study at the Valencia Conservatory of Music and completed his degree studies, specializing in trumpet, at the Murcia Superior Conservatory of Music. He has the concert musician diploma and licentiate diploma in trumpet from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. He was the trumpet soloist of the Valencia Baroque Orchestra and played trumpet in the Murcia Symphony Orchestra. He has taught trumpet in the Conservatories of Caravaca de la Cruz, Lorca and Cartagena. He is currently a high school music teacher. In the field of conducting he has worked with José Miguel Rodilla Tortajada and is currently working with Maestro Ferrer Ferrán. He is currently the director of "La Lira" Academy in Murcia, the Villa de Bullas Youth Band and the Villa de Bullas Band. |
