Sociedad Musical "La Esperanza" de Sant Vicent del Raspeig

HISTORY OF THE BAND
"La Esperanza" Wind Band made its official debut in 1905 during the annual festivities in San Vicente del Raspeig. Its distinguished conductors have been: Juan Miralles, the composer of the "Himno de San Vicente"; José Torres Torregrosa: Luis Torregrosa; and Francisco Amat, a native of San Vicente del Raspeig who held the post from 1980 to 2008, during which time the Band won significant prizes and awards.
In November 2008 the Band of the Sociedad Musical "La Esperanza" welcomed its current conductor, JOSÉ ANTONIO ANTOLÍN POLO, who was born in the neighboring town of Sax. With determination and professionalism, he has managed to take the Band's 64 musicians back to the contest circuit where they have won important awards under his leadership. Their prizes include.
- 2012 First Prize and Honorable Mention in Division Three of the 41st Alicante Provincial Wind Band Contest, held on 24 March 2012 in Benejúzar.
- 2012 First Prize and Honorable Mention in Division Three of the 34th Valencia Regional Wind Band Contest, held on 20 October 2012 in Cheste.
- 2013 Second Prize in Division Three of the 23rd National Band Contest "City of Murcia", held on 10 November 2013 in Murcia.
The Association's music school has 16 qualified teachers who give music theory and instrument classes to more than 100 students. Prestigious musicians at both a national and international level have started their careers in the school.
The Association currently has more than 400 members, and since March 2006 its president has been Juan Rafael Guijarro Tormo.
BIOGRAPHY OF THE CONDUCTOR
José Antonio Antolín Polo
José Antonio Antolín Polo was born in Sax, Alicante. He began studying music theory and horn in the Academy of the Sax Unión Musical y Artística before going on to the Elda Elementary Music Conservatory. His first teachers were Rafael Segura and Antonio Climent. He continued his studies at the Óscar Esplá Superior Conservatory of Music in Alicante, taught by Roberto Trinidad, where he completed his higher diploma studies and won the End of Course Prize.
He received a grant from the Valencia Regional Government to further his studies in Dusseldorf (Germany) with Carlos Crespo.
He has attended master classes with Daniel Bourgue, Radovan Vlatkovic, Adam Friedich and Francisco Burguera.
From 1993 to September 2002 he was a member of the Seville Royal Symphony Orchestra, and also played in the brass section and wind octet of said orchestra.
He is the founder of the "Sevilla Wind Quintet".
He has worked with conductors such as Yuri Temirkanov, López Cobos, Aldo Ceccato, Helmuth Rilling, Fruhbeck de Burgos, Tamas Vasari and Alain Lombard.
In 2002 he gained, through public examination, a permanent post as a horn teacher in the Valencia Region. He currently teaches horn at the Óscar Esplá Superior Conservatory of Music in Alicante.
He is the director of both the band and music school of the San Vicente del Raspeig Sociedad Musical "La Esperanza", with which he has won the following prizes:
- First Prize and Honorable Mention in Division Three at the 41st Alicante Provincial Wind Band Contest in 2012.

He is the also the director of both the school and band of the Sociedad Unión Musical Algueñense, with which he has also won significant prizes over the last few years.
