Banda Sinfónica de la FSMCV

HISTORY OF THE BAND

In 2000, the Federation of Musical Societies of the Autonomous Region of Valencia (FSMCV) decided to relaunch a project whose roots can be traced back to the Federation's original "Youth Band".

After the success it enjoyed in 2001, the year in which it was reformed, the Federation Youth Wind Band was established on a stable footing with the aim of giving its members experience of working under the direction of excellent conductors and with large wind band repertoire, as well as performing in the best concert halls. All this, together with the opportunity to get to know and spend time with other young musicians in rehearsals, motivates the Band's members to continue with their musical studies and participating in their own music association's band.

In short, the Youth Wind Band is another service which the FSMCV offers its members and which benefits its associated musicians and music groups.
The Band's members are musicians aged between 18 and 28 who belong to music associations which are members of the FSMCV and who have completed at least five years of professional training. The Band currently has 110 positions.

The Band has given concerts in the most famous concert halls and theaters in the Valencia Region, as well as in the Auditorio de la Región de Murcia, Auditorio de Santiago de Compostela, Auditorio de Tenerife and the Teatros del Canal de Madrid. They have also performed abroad, in the Casa de la Cultura de Carpentras (2011, France), and at the World Music Contest in Kerkrade (2013, Holland).

The Band's repertoire has always been dominated by the works of Valencian composers from all eras. However, they also perform works by contemporary European and American composers, as well as the great classics, whose transcriptions for wind band have been included in their concert programs.

In the 2014 season, the FSMCV Youth Wind Band is conducted by Daniel Ferrero Silvage.
