Sociedad Musical "Santa Cecilia" de Requena

Sociedad Musical "Santa Cecilia" de Requena

HISTORY OF THE BAND

At the start of 1886 the Requena Sociedad Musical was established with Mariano Pérez Sánchez as its director. In 1887, another group formed the "El Progreso" Sociedad Musical with José Cervera Cervera as their director.

In 1921 the two bands merged to form the Requena Unión Musical, with Enrique García and Enrique Almiñana Guillemot as their first and second directors. They were followed by Timoteo López Pamblanco. In early 1926 some of the Band's musicians left to form a new band called El Fomento del Arte. This group had numerous directors, including Hermenegildo Lerma. In 1936 the two bands merged once again.

LA SOCIEDAD MUSICAL “SANTA CECILIA”

In 1977 the group changed its name to Sociedad Musical "Santa Cecilia".

Its directors have been Daniel Martínez Marín, Vicente Alonso Brull, Álvaro Albiach Fernández, Francisco Melero Belmonte, Pedro Salinas Robles, Marcos Mompó Mompó, Carlos Revert Espí and, today, Sergio Navarro Bonaviña.
